Create a Metallic Navigation Interface in Photoshop
1-16-08
Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 1000×130 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Then on your tools palette set the foreground color to a dark gray, color code #383838.

Step 2:
Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool from your tools palette then above your screen under options palette choose Fill Pixels, set the radius to 12 px and check anti-aliased. Create a new layer and draw dark gray, color code #606060 rounded rectangle, exact size 686×44 px. Then cut the bottom half of your rounded rectangle.

Step 3:
Now draw a dark gray, color code #606060 square on the top left, top right and bottom right corners of your rounded rectangle.

Step 4:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Inner Shadow, Satin, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your dark gray rectangle shape.

Step 5:
With all that blending options you added in step four, your dark gray rectangle shape should now look like this.

Step 6:
Create a new layer set, name it Tab. In a new layer make a white half rounded rectangle, size 150×18 px. Use the same method used in step two to make a half rounded rectangle.

Step 7:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Inner Shadow and Gradient Overlay blending option to your black rectangle.

Step 8:
With all that blending options you added in step seven, your half rounded rectangle should now look like this.
