Design a Lego Typography in Photoshop
2-14-08
Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 900×900 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a white color. Then on your tools palette set the foreground color to #EFED4A color shade.
Make a new layer set(Layer > New > Layer Set) and name it ‘Lego Block’. Then choose the Pen tool with paths selected under the options palette, in a new layer make the same shape in the form of paths shown below. Then right click with your mouse and select Fill pixels. The paths should be filled with yellow color shade, right click on your mouse again and delete the paths.

Step 2:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending options to your yellow shape layer.

Step 3:
Create a new layer. Now make the right side of the lego piece. Same method from the last step and apply the same color shade. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending options. The settings from step one are different so make sure you apply the right settings.

Step 4:
Now create the top shape of the lego piece in another new layer. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending options.

Step 5:
Now choose your Ellipse tool and set the foreground color to #F0EF61 color shade. In a new layer create the ellipse shape you see on the picture below.

Step 6:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow and Inner Shadow blending options.

Step 7:
Now merge the ‘Lego Block’ layer set by highlighting that layer set on your layers palette then above your screen choose Layer > Merge Layer Set.

Step 8:
Duplicate your yellow lego block and under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Color Overlay blending option. Your second block should now turn into color blue.

How cool! The lego blocks look fantastic! The only thing I would change is having different colours per letter at the end, it’s a little hard to make our PSD. Other than that, very neat idea! I remember Google doing this with their logo not too long ago as well.

Great idea! I also think that each letter shoud have different colour becouse it isn’t so sure that there is PSD written.
